ARK Ministries (acts of random kindness)
Our Vision is stated as “Seeking to touch human need through kindness and generosity”
History of the ARK
The ARK Ministries was established in 2005 when the pastor of Southport Church of the Nazarene, Steve Parker, wanted to help the homeless. It all started when a few men went down to Wheeler Mission to volunteer their services.
There they noticed several men that were not able to enter into the mission. The thought of sleeping outside and being hungry with no help disturbed the men. At that point they started to gather some people together and formed the ark ministry.
The "Ark" home is a 1979 motor home that was donated for the transportation and the distribution of the food. All supplies on the "Ark" are from donations. The church only pays for the gas and maintenance that is needed to run the ark. We are only allowed to serve pre-prepared food that can only be reheated. We serve anywhere from 50 to 150 individuals each week. Our goal is to make sure that people who need help get it!
“I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.” Mark 9:41
